What Career is Right for You? Learn All About Yourself
Roughly half of all high school graduates do not go on to college. Some of them continue in the same business or occupation as a parent or relative. Some of them use a basic talent in sports, art or music. If you’re among the 50% who go right into the work world, you have a lot of options.
You are unlikely to know all your options without help.
You know the occupations of the people you deal with
directly, but there are hundreds more you do not know.
One thing to remember - “a college degree is not the only path to a well-paying job” or to happiness and fulfillment.
The Big Picture
Fortunately, our society is very complex and incorporates
virtually every occupation ever conceived. We have
organized an index of jobs by first dividing the work world into eighteen different categories.
Click on any one of them and you’ll be taken to a page that lists the jobs that fall under that category. For example: under the category REAL ESTATE, you’ll find both Lawyers and Sales Agents. The more you scroll through our list, the more you’ll focus on the career that’s right for you.
Some occupations fall into several categories. The occupation “Lawyer”, for example, falls under Real Estate, Business & Management, Criminal Justice & Security, Government & Politics, and Legal and Paralegal.
This suggests that lawyers have many employment opportunities. If you’re thinking of law as a career, it’s helpful to know that your choice of career can lead you in many different directions.
