Measuring Abilities - The Highlands Ability Battery

3 hours to complete      •   2 hours for individual feedback
Unfortunately, our schools are not equipped to assess your natural abilities. Many of the measures the schools apply are in place and use long before you reach the age of 15, when your natural abilities mature and can first be tested. As a result, the measures that are used - grades, SAT results, interviews - ignore the most fundamental measure of all - an assessment of your natural abilities. This assessment, more than any of the others, will suggest the career that will be best for you.

The Highlands Ability Battery is the gold-standard among tests assessing human abilities. Developed from the pioneering clinical studies of Johnson O’Connor, it is a three-hour objective inquiry into the  abilities you were born with and their various patterns. The Battery is available online.

The Battery consists of nineteen different worksamples.
Each worksample is timed to measure the speed with which
you are able to do a particular series of tasks. Your score on each worksample establishes whether a particular task is more or less easy for you. Displayed together on a personal profile and bar chart, your scores reveal patterns or “clusters” of abilities which require interpretation by a Highlands Affiliate. Once you understand these patterns or “clusters” you will be able to direct your life and work into more productive and satisfying channels.

Whether we call them talents or aptitudes or facilities, what we’re really talking about are the hard-wired abilities we inherit at birth. In this sense, your natural abilities are not always coextensive with your performance at school, which is influenced by such factors as your skills, your goals, and your family and social background.
